About

About Allie Hasson

I’m an independent visual artist working in painting, bookmaking, illustration, and collage. My work focuses on caring for one another, nature, and envisioning a better collective future for us all.

In the past, I’ve worked for institutions such as Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum, Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, all of which have enriched my personal practice and provided an awareness of historical context.

I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and I’m currently working and living in Chicago with my husband and two small children. My unpaid work as a parent defines and clarifies much of my work as an artist and has been the ignition of my deep commitment to a future that is grounded in the recognition of the humanity of all people.
